Classic Harley Davidson

Available to order now from amazon.co.uk and www.deltamusic.co.uk

The story of the ‘Milwaukee Marvel’
From humble beginnings in a shed, to one of the most instantly recognisable names on Earth
Showcases a wealth of classic bikes from the first 50 years of production.

Founded by William S. Harley and Arthur Davidson, later to be joined by Arthur’s brothers Walter and William, Harley-Davidson has been producing motorcycles since 1903. Building just three bikes in that first year, production was moved in 1904 to a shed behind the Davidsons’ house, where they were able to begin work on the 30 cubic-inch ‘single’ that was later to be named ‘ the Silent Grey Fellow’.

In this programme from 2004, while looking at Harley-Davidson motorcycles from a century of production, we concentrate on the history of the first 50 years. What’s so great about Harley-Davidson? If you have to ask, you wouldn't understand.

Brunel's ss Great Britain

Available to order now from amazon.co.uk and www.deltamusic.co.uk

Isambard Kingdom Brunel was undoubtedly a genius, but many of the projects with which he was involved were dogged by bad luck and the ss Great Britain was no exception.

Nevertheless, when she was launched in 1843 she was the largest and most advanced
ship afloat, equipped with all the features of a modern passenger liner. During her first few years of service, misfortune followed her, culminating in 1846 when she ran aground on the east coast of Ireland during a stormy night, with 180 passengers on board.

Remaining stranded for almost a year, she was saved from destruction by two of Brunel’s most ingenious ideas: one to protect her from the weather while she remained aground on a very exposed coast, the other the remarkable method he put forward to the Great Western Steamship Company for re-floating her. Duly re-floated in August 1847, she was towed back to Liverpool and sold.

From 1852 until 1876 she was plied to and from Australia carrying passengers. Later
she served as a cargo ship until she became stranded at the Falkland Islands in 1886,
where she remained until 1970 when she was towed back to Bristol to be restored. Brunel’s ss Great Britain follows the story of the ship from the formation of the Great Western Steamship Company, her first owner until she was returned to Bristol.
It is a fascinating tale, spanning 135 years.

Classic Tractors

Available to order now from www.deltamusic.co.uk and amazon.co.uk

CLASSIC & WORKING TRACTORS
Modern-day tractors, powerful and sophisticated as they are, with high-tech features designed to make the operator’s task that bit easier, continue to face competition from old reliables that chug around carrying out a good day’s labour, just as they have done for decades.
In this charming programme from 2003, produced by enthusiasts for enthusiasts, we see examples of both classic and modern tractors out in the field carrying out their essential work.

MINI & MIGHTY TRACTORS
An essential tool for farmers the world over, tractors of all sizes are equipped to handle any task for which they are needed. Many early manufacturers have disappeared, but surviving marques continue to build superb machines both large and small, many of which are featured in this delightful programme produced in 2004.

CLASSIC & VINTAGE TRACTORS
Vintage tractors can be found in various states of repair in the most unlikely places – in farmyards and on driveways, and even just left to rot on waste ground, though it is still possible to experience classic machines in their former glory. Filmed at the 2002 Essex County Show, this delightful programme brings to life the enthusiasm and dedication of many vintage tractor owners, as they gather to display their magnificent vehicles to an enthralled public.

CLASSIC EARLY & VINTAGE TRACTORS
Filmed at the 2002 great Dorset Steam Fair and featuring a sensational array of pre-1930s tractors, this documentary is a treat for any enthusiast. Many of the highlighted vehicles were built by manufacturers still in business today, while others carry nameplates of tractor makers long since departed. Of particular interest is the 1901 Ivel and the huge Case, each of which would look more at home on the great American prairies than in the rolling Dorset countryside. Also featured are tractors built by Hart-Parr, John Deere, Fordson, Minneapolis, Fiat, Caterpillar Crawler, International, Rumley and many more.

Classic British Motorcycles - Best Of British

Available to order now from www.deltamusic.co.uk and amazon.co.uk

Motorcycles
Soon after the birth of Bayliss and Thomas’s 1896 Excelsior, the first British motorcycle, dozens of small manufacturers followed their pioneering lead, giving birth to the British motorcycle industry. This programme brings you rare footage of many of the very early models produced before world war one, between the wars and after world war two, with many of the earliest bikes featured being the very last examples of their type.
So many bikes are included here that to list them all would take up all available space, but just to whet the appetite here is a brief selection of the machines featured: 1902 Excelsior, 1903 Kelly, 1904 Ormonde, 1906 Lloyd Thomas, 1904 Quadrant, 1910 Lincoln elk, 1909 Brown, 1914 Royal Enfield, 1906 Imperial, 1912 New Imperial, 1907 Rex, 1908 Triumph, 1909 Torpedo and many, many more.

Norton
James ‘Pa’ Norton founded his company in 1898 making bicycle parts, producing his first motorcycle in 1902 that looked like an ordinary pedal cycle with a Clement engine and petrol tank bolted on. Later, before developing power units to his own design, Norton used Peugeot engines, too.
Throughout its history, Norton had a very competitive racing team, taking many trophies and breaking innumerable records, especially throughout the thirties and fifties. Sadly, the highwater mark of the company’s success came after ‘Pa’ died in 1925 at the tragically young age of 52. Taken over by AMC in 1953, the company continued to build impressive machines and to attract big names to ride them, but never again did Norton reach the pinnacle it occupied in the thirties and fifties.
In this programme, we focus on the period up to the fifties, when Geoff Duke took both the 350cc and 500cc World Championships and the company was taken over by AMC.

Vincent & Velocette
Vincent HRD - Originally founded by Howard R Davies in 1924, HRD suffered poor sales that forced the company in to voluntary liquidation in 1927. Subsequently purchased by Philip Vincent in the same year, with the help of his father, Vincent became one of the most respected marques in British motorcycling history.
Velocette - A family run company that survived a shaky start, Velocette developed a solid reputation focused on its large-capacity four-stroke singles, mostly in traditional black and gold livery. Often ahead of its time, the company’s tendency to overspend on development eventually brought its undoing, but not before building some of the finest bikes of the post-war era.

100 Years Of Triumph
Celebrating the 2002 centenary of Triumph motorcycles, this fascinating programme is stuffed with a host of evocative pre-war models, names that evoke a picture of power combined with a special Triumph individuality ingrained in every machine they built.
Despite a long wartime gap in production and crippling manpower shortage, Triumph managed to produce some 50,000 machines for the military and, after the war, more great names graced fabulous new machines – Trophy, Thunderbird and most evocative of all, 1959’s Bonneville. During the 60s the Japanese influence started to take hold and Triumph sales went in to decline before the company finally ceased production in 1983.
Part two of the Triumph story begins with John Bloor’s purchase of Triumph’s Meriden site along with all naming rights. After much speculation, Triumph bikes began to emerge from a new works in Hinckley and 1992 saw the end of the first full year of production with 5000 bikes built, this figure rising to 30,000 machines 10 years later. Quite an incredible turnaround.

Available to order now from amazon.co.uk and www.deltamusic.co.uk

THE SEVERN VALLEY RAILWAY
Running between Kidderminster and Bridgnorth, the 16 miles of reopened track of the Severn Valley Railway is one of the longest Heritage Railways in the country and runs through one of the most picturesque valleys in the West Midlands. This charming documentary from 2005 tells the story of the history of the SVR, from conception through opening in 1862 to its final closure at the hands of Beeching in 1962.

DEAN FOREST RAILWAY
Set in the picturesque and tranquil Royal Forest in Gloucester, the Dean Forest Railway winds its way from the line’s HQ at Norchard through Lydney Town and St Mary’s Halt to Lydney Junction at one end, and Whitecroft and Parkend at the other. With plenty to see, this is one of the UK’s most enchanting restoration railways and this 2005 documentary shows the route at its best.

THE BATTLEFIELD LINE
Opened in 1873 as the Ashby and Nuneaton Joint Railway, the Battlefield Line was renamed by its present owners when the track was re-laid back to Shenton Station, which partly stands on the site of 1845’s Battle of Bosworth. Traffic ceased on the original line as early as 1931, before its final closure in 1970, since when the Shackerston Railway Society has gradually rebuilt part of the line from Shackerston to Shenton, and today a pleasant ride can be enjoyed through the Leicestershire countryside. The line features a host of rolling stock and some impressive buildings, as well as a fine museum. This 2005 programme celebrates the line, its history and its current custodians.

BRECON MOUNTAIN RAILWAY
Telling the story of two railway companies in this documentary from 2005: first, the Brecon Mountain Railway, a heritage track opened in 1980, its narrow-gauge track having been laid over the original track bed of the second, the Brecon and Merthyr Tydfil Junction Railway Company. The BMR line runs from Pant Station to just short of the Summit or Torpantau Tunnel, at 1313 feet, the highest ever built in the UK. Once renowned as the most spectacular in the land, the Brecon and Merthyr northern section delighted passengers with magnificent views of old locomotives struggling at the head of their charges as they attempted to pull them over gradients of up to 1:38, over the mountains and through the valleys, past the reservoirs between Brecon and Merthyr.

The 34 charming programmes in this collection of ten DVDs are presented as they were originally broadcast three decades ago, and provide ample evidence of why the enchanting charm of Out Of Town have endured for so many people for so many years.

For over 20 years Out Of Town was a television programme that provided a window on country life in rural Britain. Hundreds of programmes were broadcast by Southern Television but they were feared lost when the company lost its ITV franchise in 1981.

Apart from 28 episodes that were recreated by presenter Jack Hargreaves in 1986, using extracts from films used in the original TV programmes with new footage filmed by Jack, it was presumed that all other examples of the original Out Of Town series had been lost forever.

In 2012, after extensive research by Simon Baddeley, Simon Winters, and Southern Television archive expert David King, 34 complete original episodes of Out Of Town – not seen since their original broadcast in 1980 & 1981 - came to light and are now being made available on DVD by Delta.

Over twenty eight hours (including bonus features) of Out Of Town are presented on these ten DVDs. Only edited versions of some of the location films that are included have been seen on DVD – featured in the 28 programmes produced in 1986 - but the significant part of them are being presented in their original form for the first time since they were broadcast three decades ago.

The discovery of these programmes ensures that Jack’s legacy on screen is preserved and that the unsentimental charm of Out Of Town will live on for future generations.

Each of the DVDs in this collection has a bonus feature which allows the viewer to see the unedited versions of the Out Of Town episodes in their original broadcast format, including the off screen countdown clock with comments from production staff and an occasional remark from Jack Hargreaves.

Eddie Stobart Trucks And Trailers 4

Available to order now from www.deltamusic.co.uk and amazon.co.uk

The highly popular observational documentary series featuring iconic British haulage firm Eddie Stobart hits the road once more. It’s pedal to the metal as the truckers venture deep into Europe in immense convoys, while back at home they rise to the challenge of delivering everything from 26 tonnes of ice to thoroughbred horses. Some unique additions are also rolled out to join the elite Stobart fleet and it’s full speed ahead for their Rail and Air divisions.

Even when the going gets tough, the wheels must keep on turning 24/7. If anyone can do it, the truckers can!
